چکیده
Parvimonas micra and Provetella oralis are two commensal anaerobic bacteria of the human oral cavity. Anaerobic infections uncommon require a high index suspicion quick start appropriate treatment. We present patient with multifocal infiltrates compatible septic embolism (lung, liver, spleen emboli) polymicrobial bacteremia oralis. Periodontal disease appears to be main cause this disseminated infection.

Periodontal Pockets as a Potential Source of Infection: a Case of Possible Odontogenic Septic Pulmonary Embolism
Although dental foci can be sources of bacteremia and bacterial endocarditis, hematogenous spread of infection presented with septic pulmonary embolism apparently is rare. The occurrence of septic pulmonary embolism in patients with periodontal disease without suppurative thrombophlebitis of the great vessels of the neck is well documented but to our knowledge, there is no report on septic pulm...
متن کاملSeptic pulmonary embolism associated with periodontal disease: reports of two cases and review of the literature.
We report two cases of septic pulmonary embolism associated with periodontitis. Chest CT revealed multiple nodular shadows with features characteristic of septic pulmonary embolism in both patients. Both patients had toothache, fever, and chest pain, and showed findings of periodontitis at initial presentation. Antimicrobial agents combined with dental surgery were successful in treatment. Whil...

Severe combined immunodeficiency is a rare, fatal syndrome of diverse genetic cause in which there is combined absence of T-lymphocyte and B-lymphocyte function (and in many cases also natural killer, or NK lymphocyte function). These defects lead to extreme susceptibility to serious infections. Without intervention, the T and B-cell dysfunction usually results in severe infection and death in ...
